My main research focus is currently on military coalitions and international interventions from the mid-19th-century onwards
On a methodological level I work on ways of using language and language change as historical evidence.
I have a long-standing interest in the impact of digital tools and methods on historians and in particularly their training.
I continue to be involved in a number of collective research projects around the First World War.
